Ria Barot Senior Fashion Designer

Hello! Please tell us about yourself and your role at Lockwood Publishing?
I am 28 years old and I am a senior fashion designer here at Lockwood Publishing. I love fashion and interiors. My role is quite varied. It can range from designing collections and creating fashion brands to editorial art direction.

How long have you worked in the games industry? How did you find your start in the industry, and how did you arrive at your current position?
I have worked in the games industry for almost four years.
I studied fashion at college and university and have worked in various areas of the fashion industry, including retail, styling and E-commerce. I have always loved fashion games.
However, I never in a million years thought I would work in the games industry. I didn’t even know my job existed. It’s important to research different games, where they are based and what different career paths you can go down within the industry.

What do you consider to be the greatest achievement of your career so far?
I feel very proud that I have grown as a person and gotten to where I am today. I didn’t complete my degree, yet I have managed to get to this level through hard work and determination. Whilst working at Lockwood Publishing, I have created many brands. However, one was something very close to my heart as it was a brand I always wanted to create in the ‘real world’. Seeing it come to life and then loved by our player base was extremely rewarding.

If you weren’t in this industry, what do you think you’d be doing now?
I would probably be an interior designer or remain a fashion designer but not for a gaming company. Working as a fashion designer for Avakin Life is great as I can do both without the technical restrictions.
