You will work with other designers, researchers, community specialists, PM leadership and engineering leadership to create forward-thinking design strategy, user scenario-driven features, and meet business goals. At the core of this job, candidates will identify user-centred design patterns, establish scenarios, place designs into user context and create interactions that align to those requirements. Candidates must be able to articulate their thinking using a variety of mediums from information diagrams and wireframes to user-flows and detailed prototypes. You will need to show attention to detail and passion in the work you produce. A solid understanding of graphic/visual design is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and execute strategic design deliverables for multiple feature areas;
  • Help solve complex design problems in simple and intuitive ways, blending brand personality, interactions and visuals to create delightful experiences;
  • Synthesise qualitative and quantitative data to derive personas, use cases, concepts, user journeys and information architecture;
  • Create a range of deliverables: personas, customer journey maps, wireframes, information architecture documentation;
  • Represent Experience Services, in both an end-to-end design and an ad-hoc consultancy basis, to other teams throughout Lockwood;
  • Work closely and constructively with design, community, engineering and management to ensure the overall business strategy is on track with the smooth delivery of designs;
  • Communicate progress and highlight issues efficiently to ensure smooth feature development;
  • Present and sell your designs to stakeholders with appropriate levels of detail;
  • Keep abreast of latest practices, techniques and emerging technologies within the industry and employ these to develop ideas and inspire creative concepts;
  • You will advocate for design in the context of business and user goals;

Requirements

    • Experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar UX-related roles;
    • Proven experience creating prototypes, highly detailed wireframes, journey maps or IA concepts and deliverables for user-focused apps or websites;
    • Design, HCI or IA degree, or comparable work experience;
    • An online portfolio or other samples of work demonstrating relevant experience;
    • Being self-organised with excellent personal management skills;
    • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • The ability to give and take constructive feedback to internal and external staff when required;
    • Proficiency in Sketch, XD, Figma, Axure or similar;
    • The ability to work in a creative, iterative environment;
    • Demonstrated empathy for the people using your software or products;
    • Be able to interact with and influence others effectively through teamwork and diplomacy.

    Desirable but not essential skills

    • Experience working on social, messaging or communication apps;
    • Experience with best practices for device-based information architecture and design;
    • Experience with Favro, Confluence and Airtable;
    • Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, pixel and vector art.
