What is your superpower?
I see beauty in the quirky. Especially in people.
What does your role involve?
Making sure the player support department is running smoothly, which involves everything from the running of our Helpdesk, looking after the internal/external teams, and lots of data digging and reporting. In a nutshell, I’m responsible for making sure my department supports the product as best we can, and assisting our wonderful players that inhabit the Avakin world.
What first attracted you to LKWD?
I grew up playing simulation and social games, so I really wanted to work within a genre that I had a personal connection with. Lockwood also happened to be about 10 minutes from my home which was a very lucky coincidence! For my first role in the industry, I didn’t want to start off by being a small cog in a huge AAA company, so by joining a small studio this was an opportunity to have a big impact from the very start and it has worked out perfectly 😊.
Has working at LKWD exceeded your expectations?
Yes massively. When I joined, we were a tiny team all snug in the same room, and I love that Lockwood has grown to what it is now, to over 250 people. I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the growth of Lockwood, and back then I never expected the sheer amount of success that we would have. We will continue to grow and develop our product and I’m very excited to continue being a part of that journey. Also, I could not have predicted that I’d make some amazing friends along the way. Shout out to #TeamGirlSquad!
What was your first role at LKWD?
It’s a bit of a long-winded story, but the short version is:
I did some player testing back in 2010 when I was a student, before Avakin Life was published to the app stores. I followed Lockwood and Avakin’s progress as I pursued my degree, and after graduating I was referred to Lockwood by my tutor. I joined initially as a Community Assistant, which largely involved engaging with the players in-game and on social media.
How did you reach your current role?
After a few years as a Community Assistant, I was promoted to Player Support Supervisor as I naturally leaned towards the support side of my work. Then after another year, due to a department restructure, I was offered the opportunity to lead the new team.
How did LKWD support your career journey?
I’ve had lots of support along the way with great managers and mentors. I’ve always believed your colleagues should be your constant support network, as where there’s strong bonds, there’s strength in the team. Speaking from personal experience, Lockwood has facilitated my progression from an assistant to a lead with on-going management training, investing into employee wellbeing and providing flexibility when needed.
